  3. How long will the job search last?  It typically takes 8 weeks to
  4. find a job paying up to $20,000, 17 weeks for jobs paying $30,000,
  5. 27 weeks for jobs paying $40,000, and 38 weeks for jobs paying
  6. $50,000.  Normally, the higher the income level, the fewer positions 
  7. are available, and the longer it will take to secure a new position.  
  8. The actual search time will vary with the economy, the particular  
  9. job one is looking for, and the amount of effort expended.

  11. The average job seeker spends only five hours per week and makes
  12. only six contacts with employers per month.  Since it takes an
  13. average of 34 contacts with employers to generate one job offer, the
  14. more time you invest in your job search effort the sooner you will
  15. have a new job.

  17. Remember, if you are series about securing a new position in the 
  18. shorts possible time, you need to invest at least 40 hours per week 
  19. to the "job" of job hunting.
