- HOW LONG WILL THE JOB SEARCH TAKE?
-
- How long will the job search last? It typically takes 8 weeks to
- find a job paying up to $20,000, 17 weeks for jobs paying $30,000,
- 27 weeks for jobs paying $40,000, and 38 weeks for jobs paying
- $50,000. Normally, the higher the income level, the fewer positions
- are available, and the longer it will take to secure a new position.
- The actual search time will vary with the economy, the particular
- job one is looking for, and the amount of effort expended.
-
- The average job seeker spends only five hours per week and makes
- only six contacts with employers per month. Since it takes an
- average of 34 contacts with employers to generate one job offer, the
- more time you invest in your job search effort the sooner you will
- have a new job.
-
- Remember, if you are series about securing a new position in the
- shorts possible time, you need to invest at least 40 hours per week
- to the "job" of job hunting.
-
- For the next step, select "Who are employers hiring?" from the
- submenu.
